Dr. Kanwar Chahal, DVM
I am Dr. Kanwar Chahal and I have been a full-time veterinarian at Dixie Animal hospital since graduating from veterinary school in 2015. I grew up in Mississauga, Ontario, and have always been passionate about working with animals.
I graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Science, Biochemistry specialization in 2010. I have done research in bacteriology and aided in developing on-site bacteria identification technology using gene sequencing. My passion for animal care led me to work with many different species of animals, reptiles, and fish. Later, I pursued my education at Ontario Veterinary College, Guelph, ON, where I graduated with Honors in 2015.
Additionally, I am certified in animal dental care from the Animal Dental Center, Baltimore. I received my certificate in principles of orthopedic surgery from AONA at Phoenix, Arizona. I recently obtained my certificate in soft tissue surgery from Western Veterinary Conference training center, Las Vegas.
Most days my three-year-old English bulldog named Hazel tags along with me to work and has become an integrated member of the clinic.
When I am not at work, most of my time is spent with my wife Simran and my one year old daughter Savreen. In my spare time, I volunteer at local food drives, and spend time at the local dog parks.
I love working as a veterinarian along side my exceptionally talented team, where I get to share the bond between pets and pet parents on a daily basis. I find myself fortunate to help pets live a long healthy life so that they can continue to provide their families with unconditional love.

Practice Manager/ Registered Veterinary Technician
My name is Anagha. I am the practice manager at Dixie Animal Hospital. I graduated with honours from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology, Denver, Colorado. My academic experience provided me the platform to excel as a registered veterinary technician. Post-graduation I worked at Banfield Pet Hospital, in Colorado and also, studied broader elements of equine care, riding and stable management with British Horse Society Maidstome, England. I have over 12 years of deep operational management experience in administration, combined with over 10 years as a veterinary technician. I work closely with the veterinarian, staff and the clients to make it a rewarding experience.
I am originally from Bombay, India. I worked at Royal Western India Turf Club Bombay, India and then at a mixed practice, before I moved to Denver for schooling.
While I was in school, I spent some time volunteering at shelters and clinics. In 2013, I heard of a 5 month old Border collie – Australian shepherd mix, deaf dog. He was very energetic and difficult to adopt. He adopted me and I named him Brass. I spend most of my free time trying to keep up with Brass and him away from squirrels.
My favourite time of the day is when I get to interact with you and getting to know your furry family members – simply put, my hobby became my profession!
Hi there! My name is Jyoti and I am one of the customer service representatives and the first few faces you see at Dixie Animal Hospital.
I have always been passionate about animals, so when I was old enough to decide what I wanted to do with my life, I knew my only career path would be in the veterinary industry. Soon after graduating high school, I attended an Animal Assistant program at Granville College in Vancouver, BC where I was born and raised. I worked in Vancouver before I made the decision to move to Toronto, ON in 2016 and continued this career at Dixie Animal Hospital for the past year. It has been great working with people that share the love of animals as I do and genuinely care about their well being before anything else.
If I’m not at work or enjoying my days off binge watching something on Netflix, I’m chasing after 2 year old spunky Morkie named Zoey. Zoey was the first friend I made living here in Toronto and has been one of the best part of life since. Since adopting her, I am now the proud owner of two Betta fish and a 4 year old Bearded Dragon.
The best part of my job is sharing the excitement of a family bringing in their very first pet and seeing the kitten or puppy grow throughout their visits. I always enjoy seeing a happy pet and happy owners.
I look forward to meeting you and your special family member!
Hello, my name is Sydney Wadden and I am one of the customer care representative at Dixie Animal Hospital. I am currently completing a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biomedical Sciences.
My passion for the sciences and love for animals led me to join the veterinary field. My favorite aspect about working in the
veterinary industry over the past 6 years is being able to utilize my knowledge and education to help animals in need.
I have 3 rabbits whom I love dearly. My first rabbit, Stanley, loves apples and having his ears pet. A short while later, I got Peter and my most recent adoption was Earl.
Outside of work, I enjoy hanging out with my family and watching movies. I spend most weekends going hiking and camping during the summer or snowboarding during the winter months.
I understand how important pets are to us and I can’t wait to meet you and your fur friend!
